Get ready for PACE

The NDIA is updating its computer system called PACE. It will soon be rolled out nationwide, starting 30 October 2023. It’s important to note that PACE will not fundamentally change how the NDIS operates. So let’s understand what PACE is and how it may affect your business.

What is PACE?

PACE is the new computer system replacing the current NDIS Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system. This includes the existing NDIS business system, portal, and payment systems. The aim is to make things easier and more efficient for NDIS Providers, Plan Managers, and Support Coordinators.

Important things to know about PACE:

  • There will be a ‘participant-endorsed providers’ feature which builds a direct relationship between the provider and the Participant, approved by the Participant themselves. Providers won’t need to create service bookings; they can access the Participant’s plans on the NDIS system and implement the plan directly.
  • The new portal allows both registered and unregistered Support Coordinators and psychosocial recovery coaches to submit Requests for Service. For providers offering services to agency-managed participants, being ‘endorsed’ within the participant portal will ensure faster payments. If not endorsed, the participant needs to approve claims within seven days. No action is needed for plan managers or plan-managed participants.
  • PACE increases access to participant plans, but providers need the participant’s consent for this access. Plan managers and support coordinators should obtain this consent to benefit from the extra plan access.
