Survey Results – Why a participant chooses a NDIS service provider

The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission surveyed 355 participants to help understand factors that they consider most important when it comes to choosing a provider.

Here’s a quick rundown of the top 4 survey results:

1. Location
This trumps all and confirms how important it is to have a provider who is nearby. This manifests its way in how visible NDIS Service Providers are. It’s very common to see a provider’s car covered in branding to act like a moving billboard. Where providers have a physical premise, the branding tends to be more visible than other shops nearby.

2. Quality and Safeguarding Information
Potentially a surprise for many, but quite understandable. A provider’s track record would be important for an existing provider, but details about how a provider is going to uphold the NDIS practice standards would be beneficial for new and existing providers.

3. Worker Information
In a service-based industry where the interaction with the frontline is so important, we don’t see this promoted as much. There are providers who detail their staff on their websites, but potentially something others can do more.

4. Skills and Specific Training
Visible investment in staff skills promotes improvement in service delivery. It’s interesting that participants see this us a difference maker.
